Discover HEATT

HEATT is a free access application for calculate thermical fields in the fluid contained on circular section-rect tube for different interior or exterior thermical conditions.

What is HEATT?

HEATT (Piping Thermal Analysis and Evaluation Tool) is a free access program for calculating the thermal fields in the fluid and straight tube of circular section that contains it for different external and internal thermal conditions (temperature or temperature). heat).

The program is integrated into a platform that works "as a service" for free. That is, it receives calculation requests that are executed and their results returned to the user who has requested them at no cost to them.

HEATT calculates temperatures at virtually any significant point in a pipe cross section along the pipe, as well as heat maps of fluid and pipe cross sections at various lengths from the start of the pipe.

HEATT has applications in those ducts subjected to external thermal conditions, which can be asymmetrical, when they undergo a change from the inlet section. This situation occurs in ovens, flat and concentrating solar thermal collectors or pipes exposed to the elements, which at certain times may be exposed to solar radiation or ice.

Open source

The HEATT platform is developed in free software (NGSpice, Octave) and admits changes by those who request it and are authorized by the platform management.

Who are we?

The HEATT platform has been created by a group of professors from the University of Murcia and the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, in Spain, who work in the field of energy engineering (IngEnUM) through modeling and experimentation.< /p>

Currently the group is made up of Mariano Alarcón García (full professor at UM), Juan Pedro Luna Abad (collaborating professor at UPCT), Manuel Seco Nicolás (PhD. researcher at UM) and Alfonso P. Ramallo González (PhD. researcher at UM).

The management of the platform falls to the IngEnUM group.

Financing

The HEATT platform has been developed in 2022 thanks to obtaining a grant in the 2021 call for Proofs of Concept from the Seneca Foundation – Science and Technology Agency of the Region of Murcia (Spain).

Once the initial financing is finished, the platform must look for alternative financing formulas. The HEATT platform accepts donations for the expansion and improvement of the program and the management of the platform itself.

Contact

If you want to contact the HEATT management team you can do it from here.

The HEATT team works on improving the program and expanding and flexibility of the problems it can solve. We welcome suggestions and collaborations.
